Steffany has a unique and historic career working at the highest level in Sport and Business. No one had ever done ‘it’ before and there were no mentors to show her the way, break trail or make it easy for her. She was determined at a young age to make a difference and change lives. She just didn’t know how it would look… Steffany was a pioneer in Player Development and now, 30 years later is the founder of several successful businesses, has knowledge, experience and credibility unlike any other coach/entrepreneur that crosses over into other realms of life…sport and business.

Never having a ‘real job’, Hanlen Consulting Inc was born in 1988 as an idea that athletes of all ages and abilities had the right to the best and most individualized support and programming available. It was the first holistic development program in Edmonton, possibly Canada.

Steffany’s has 16+ Years at the N.H.L. Level. This had never been done before and has never been repeated.

Edmonton Oiler Strength and Skating Coach 1991-1999 (an inspired story of grit and overcoming adversity)

St. Louis Blues Skating and Performance Coach 2001-2005 (Using Powerskating as a vehicle to teach Pro players the benefit of life skills and life after Hockey)

HOW DOES STEFFANY GIVE BACK TO HER COMMUNITY?

It’s what she does. Steffany built her life reaching into our community and connecting experts in their prospective fields to her programs for the benefit of all. Steffany’s programs, on and off the ice, are a central point of reference for families seeking support for their children, beyond what is available or obvious. She gives from the inside out with the intent her clients go into their communities and make a massive difference!

Steffany mentors and gives her knowledge to all who desire to blaze their OWN trails, on their own term.

Steffany demonstrates integrity and honesty while building community. She is a leader in each of her 'worlds', and what makes her a trailblazer is connecting these 'worlds' and creating opportunities for other women to realize their own potential and growth.

While she earns a living in the male dominated world of Hockey, she has volunteered in our city for the SPCA, Stollery Galas, Stars Galas, sat on the first board of the

Edmonton Sport Council and other important causes. Steffany shares expertise and time with young women seeking to build their life and make a living doing what they love to do.

HOW DOES STEFFANY DEMONSTRATE LEADERSHIP?

Leadership, to Steffany is about supporting others to go beyond what they believe their limits are. Her knowledge and experience from the NHL needed to get to players of all levels so Hanlen founded Quantum Speed™ High Performance Skating Systems in 2002.

She is a ‘serial leader’. It’s in her blood. She sees the best in people and insists it come out into the world.

The powerful intent of creating this QuantumSpeed was build a Legacy Program that supports players and provide opportunities and leadership to skating coaches and hockey professionals achieving their goals and dreams and make a great living.

Quantum Speed is recognized by Hockey Canada and many other reputable bodies as the leader in player development and training for high-end coaches.

Steffany’s ability to build businesses, her lateral reach and commitment to quality client care has recently expanded into the retail world of ProSkate. At the same time she is a successful real estate investor, Performance Coach and loves to share her journey Speaking to groups.

HOW IS STEFFANY A TRAILBLAZER?

Steffany sees trails for people that are not there. Then she blazes them.

Always looking outside the box, WHAT BOX?!?!©… her innovator and contrarian style of ‘business’ in the world of hockey, especially as a female, was not easy, understood or initially accepted. It took years of unwavering dedication to her Vision of ‘Player Development and Systemized Training’ for it to become normalized in Hockey. It is now part of the Hockey Culture and a ‘fixed term’.

She never followed the crowd nor fit in with bureaucracy, which as you know, didn’t always make her popular.

Much of her journey was alone, with later support of her husband, business owner and fellow innovator, Patrick Francey they are a powerhouse team of trailblazers.

Very little, if anything, of what Steffany created and led, has ever been done before. She just keeps making it up and sharing the wealth!

For me, the core of Trailblazing is integrity. She is who she says she is, even when no one is looking. Grounded in trust and inspiration Steffany Hanlen creates wins for those following in her wake.
